Resident in the Challedon subdivision near Piney Grove Road no longer need to boil their water.

Update: The Columbia Water Works has repealed a boil water advisory for residents in the Challedon subdivision near Piney Grove Road.
Residents no longer need to boil water before drinking or cooking.
Following an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples were collected and it was determined the water was safe to use for drinking and cooking, according to the Columbia Water Works.

Original story: A boil water advisory was issued Saturday for customers in the Challedon subdivision in Lexington County after a six-inch water main break, according to the Columbia Water Works.
Residents are advised to boil their water for at least one minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking.

All food processors and restaurants should comply with prescribed USDA and SC Department of Health and Environmental Control recommendations, respectively.
