Updated: Boil Water Advisory Issued for Chapin Residents

Updated, 6:07 p.m.: A boil water advisory has been issued for residents north of Murray Lindler Road and Old Lexington Highway including the town of Chapin after a 12-inch water main break Thursday afternoon.

Any residents near the affected area who have lost water and/or water pressure should vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes. 

All customers in the Chapin area can expect to experience water pressure issues. 

The City of Columbia Water Works is working to fix the water main break.
