Updated: Boil Water Advisory Issued for Chapin Residents
Residents should boil their water before drinking or cooking.

Updated, 6:07 p.m.: A boil water advisory has been issued for residents north of Murray Lindler Road and Old Lexington Highway including the town of Chapin after a 12-inch water main break Thursday afternoon.
Any residents near the affected area who have lost water and/or water pressure should vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

Original story: City of Columbia crews are responding to a water main break in the Chapin area after a contractor hit a water main.
All customers in the Chapin area can expect to experience pressure issues. A boil water advisory is also being issued.
