Boil Water Advisory Issued for Irmo, Chapin Neighborhoods

The city has issued a boil water advisory for residents of several subdivisions in the area.

Some residents in the Irmo and Chapin areas should boil their water before drinking or cooking, the City of Columbia announced Wednesday morning.

The city issued an advisory for the residents of Brookstone Subdivision, Rolling Creek Subdivision, Wescott Ridge Subdivision, Courtyard Subdivision, Ashford Subdivision, and Waterfall Subdivision, bounded by Shady Grove Road, West Shady Grove Road, Broad River Road, and Mount Vernon Church Road.

A 12-inch water main break in the area could possibly result in bacterial contamination of the water, according to a press release from the city.
