Brett Parker Murder Trial Delayed

Defense attorneys for the man accused of killing his wife and friend at his Ascot Estates home have been granted seven days to review documents related to the case.

The trial of a man accused of killing his wife and friend last year in his Ascot Estates home has been delayed, according to reports.

During a hearing Monday, a judge granted Brett Parker's attorneys seven days to review hundreds of pages of discovery documents they received just before the hearing, according to WIS.

Parker's defense attorney's say that those discovery documents include the results of a gunshot residue test, which show that Brian Capnerhurst, Parker's friend, shot Parker's wife, Tammy Parker, before turning the gun on Parker, according to the report. Defense attorneys say Parker shot Capnerhurst in self-defense.

The hearing was originally scheduled to determine whether Parker and his defense attorney's could claim the state's "Stand Your Ground" law. That hearing is now set for Monday, the day the trial was originally set to start.
