Brett Parker to Appeal Murder Convictions

The Irmo man convicted of double murder will use a public defender in the appeal process, according to reports.

Brett Parker, an Irmo man found guilty of killing his wife and gambling partner, will appeal his double-murder conviction, according to reports.

Parker's defense attorneys filed a notice of intent to appeal, according to a report from The State, but Parker will most likely use a public defender for the appeal process because he doesn't have money to pay his attorneys.

Although Parker's attorneys won't be handling the appeal, they told WIS that the appeal will most likely be based on these points: the prosecution had insufficient and circumstancial evidence and the judge failed to issue a continuance after Parker's attorneys turned over hundreds of pages of discovery material a week and a half before the trial.
