A federal gambling trial against Brett Parker, his father and another man has been postponed, according to reports.
The trial is now scheduled to start Sept. 16, according to a report from WIS, and should end by Sept. 20.
The delay was requested because of a change in public defenders, according to a report in The State. Parker will have a public defender for his federal trial.
Parker, his father Jack Winfred Parker, 71, of Chapin, and Douglas E. Taylor, 60, of Leesville were each indicted in February on a charge of conducting an illegal gambling business.
Richland County Sheriff's investigators uncovered the gambling ring after Brett Parker's wife, Tammy Jo Parker, and gambling partner, Bryan Capnerhurst were shot to death in April 2012 at the Parkers' Ascot Estates home.
The maximum penalty each could face on the gambling charge is five years in prison.
Parker is already serving a life sentence for two murder charges in the deaths of his wife and Capnerhurst.
