Chapin Man Accused of Abusing Infant

A 22-year-old Chapin man accused of abusing a 4-month-old child was arrested Thursday.

Lexington County detectives arrested a 22-year-old Chapin man they say abused a 4-month-old child.

Tyler Sean-Michael Lambert, was arrested Thursday and is accused of assaulting an infant on or about March 17, according to the sheriff’s department.

An arrest warrant alleges that on March 26, the child was taken to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital for treatment.

The infant showed signs of a pattern of physical abuse inflicted upon them over a period of time which caused serious and life-threatening injuries, according to a release. 

A doctor determined the injuries the child received were the result of non-accidental blunt force trauma, the department said.

Detectives say Lambert is the person primarily responsible for the child’s injuries.

If convicted, Lambert could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Lambert is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday.
