Chapin Man Identified in Motorcycle Accident

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has released the name of a man that died after a motor vehicle crash Saturday on Broad River Road. 

William Mack Garner, 53, of Chapin, was the driver of a motorcycle that ran into the rear of a vehicle on Broad River Road at Hopewell Church Road around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the coroner's office reported. 

Garner was transported to Palmetto Richland Memorial and pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m., according to a release.

Examination results show that the victim died from massive head injuries.

Garner was not wearing a helmet.  

The South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
