Columbia Teen Charged in Car Break-Ins Near Irmo

The 18-year-old is charged with two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle.

Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man Tuesday who they say broke into two vehicles near Irmo. 

Ryan Christopher Johnson of Char Oak Drive in Columbia is accused of breaking into an SUV on Willow Creek Lane and a car on Nursery Ridge Lane, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to a call around 10 a.m. Tuesday from a citizen who reported that a man, later identified as Johnson, was breaking into a pink SUV parked at a home on Willow Creek Lane, according to the sheriff's department. 

A deputy's K9 police dog tracked Johnson to his parents' home on Char Oak Drive, according to the sheriff's department, where deputies arrested Johnson.

Deputies also determined that Johnson also broke into a car parked at a home on Nursery Ridge Lane and stole a wallet, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies later found the wallet outside a church on Nursery Ridge Lane.
