County Councilwoman Gretchen Barron will hold an in-person town hall meeting Tuesday, Nov. 23 to discuss map amendment requests for two properties in North Central Richland County.

Barron, who represents District 7, will team up with planning staff to advise residents on rezoning requests for the properties at 742 Sharpe Road and 7501 Fairfield Road, Columbia. The requests seek to rezone the three-acre Sharpe Road parcel from a residential, single-family estate district (RS-E) to a rural district (RU) and the 5.5-acre parcel on Fairfield Road from rural (RU) to light industrial (LI).
Residents in nearby communities are encouraged to attend the meeting, set for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Parklane Adult Activity Center, 7494 Parklane Road, Columbia. Face coverings will be required, and physical distancing measures will be enforced.

In order for Richland County Council to enact a rezoning request, an ordinance amending the official zoning map must pass three readings by majority vote.
