Deputies Arrest Man After Discovery of Mushroom Operation

The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating the manufacturing of hallucinogenic mushrooms at a home in Irmo.

Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested a man after finding hallucinogenic mushrooms at a home in Irmo.

James Brian Rea, 34, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of manufacturing with the intent to distribute, according to a booking report. 

Deputies discovered the mushrooms and manufacturing operation after responding to a disturbance call on Deveonport Drive, WIS-TV reports.

Rea is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on a $15,000 surety bond.
