Deputies Investigating Robberies in Irmo, Chapin Area

Two people were robbed in the driveways of their homes over the past few days.

Richland County deputies are looking for a man who they say committed two armed robberies the Irmo and Chapin area over the past few days.

The first robbery happened Saturday in Irmo, deputies say. The victim stopped at an ATM on North Lake Drive to withdraw money when he noticed the driver of a blue pickup truck pretending to work on his tire.

That man followed the victim to his home on Leamington Circle, pulled in his driveway, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his money.

The second robbery happened Monday in Chapin, deputies say. A man - who matches the description of the man in the first incident - robbed a woman as she pulled into the driveway of her home on Harbor Mist Drive.

The man, who was carrying a gun, approached the woman and knocked her to the ground, deputies say. He then stole the woman's purse from the back seat of her car, which was next to her child.
