Detectives Search for Man in Fraudulent Car Purchase
Lexington County Sheriff's Department seeks public's help in finding a man who purchased a BMW with fake documents.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives are seeking the public's help in locating a BMW sport utility vehicle that was fraudulently purchased by a man at a car dealership on Jamil Road near Irmo.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives have not yet identified the man who bought a gray 2011 BMW X5 on Dec. 8, 2011, at a Carmax dealership at 555 Jamil Road near Irmo.
Police say the man used a fake North Carolina driver’s license and other fraudulent personal identification documents when he purchased the vehicle on credit.

The purchase was reported to the Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 15.
Witnesses could not provide deputies with a detailed physical description of the man who bought the BMW X5, Metts said.

The witnesses did tell deputies that the man didn't speak English well and spoke with a strong Eastern European accent.
Anyone with information about the BMW X5 or the man who fraudulently purchased the vehicle is asked to call the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department at 803-785-8230 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Citizens also can provide information anonymously by accessing the Crime Tip link on the Sheriff’s Department web site.
