At Dutch Fork High, the number of scholarships offered totaled more than $51.7 million. That’s a $2 million increase over 2012 and almost double the school’s scholarship totals in 2011.

“This class exceeded any other class in the school's history,” Dutch Fork High Director of Guidance Dorothy Burckart said. “The amount includes academic scholarships such as the Palmetto and Life scholarships, athletic scholarships and scholarships for leadership and community service. This was truly an outstanding class and very deserving of this recognition. We are so proud of the class of 2013.”

Irmo High School’s 2013 graduating students were offered more than $41.8 million in college scholarships, said Robert Taylor, the school’s guidance director.

“The Irmo High School Class of 2013 has done an outstanding job of applying for scholarships this year and has been recognized by local, state and national organizations for their tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and community service,” Taylor said. “This class has received one of the highest scholarship offer totals in the history of Irmo High School. We are extremely proud of the total amount of scholarship dollars offered for the Class of 2013.”

The scholarship amounts represent awards at four-year, two-year and technical colleges and universities in South Carolina and other states. Scholarships were earned based on several criteria including academic performance, athletics and community service.
