District 5 Accepting Applications for School of Choice

Lexington-Richland Five is offering Limited School of Choice options for the 2012-2013 school year.

School of Choice will be available for the following schools only:

• Dutch Fork Elementary
• H. E. Corley Elementary
• Harbison West Elementary
• Irmo Elementary
• Leaphart Elementary
• Nursery Road Elementary 
• *Oak Pointe Elementary
• River Springs Elementary
• Seven Oaks Elementary
• Dutch Fork Middle
• Irmo Middle
• Dutch Fork High
• Irmo High

*Note: Only current School of Choice students may apply.

Applications are available at the District Office, at all schools and attached to this article.

Applications should be mailed or returned to the Office of Student Personnel Services, 1020 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo, SC, 29063 by May 31. Applications should not be turned in to the schools. If mailing applications, they should be postmarked by May 31.

If applications exceed the available space allocations per grade level or per school, a lottery system will be implemented on Wednesday, June 6 in the District Office.

The Office of Student Personnel Services will notify parents of their status in writing beginning June 13.

School of Choice options will remain available on an annual basis for one year only. Following completed applications, rising fifth-graders may remain at the school of choice that they are currently attending.

Tuition paying students in the Dutch Fork and Irmo clusters may only be allowed to enroll in Lexington-Richland Five schools; however placement will depend on available space in the school and grade requested.

School of Choice options do not include Employee Option or Hardship Transfers.

Special education placements made by the IEP Teams will have priority over School of Choice options.
