District 5 Board Approves Salary Increase for Members

Board members will receive a salary of $9,600 for the upcoming school year, according to a report from The State.

Lexington-Richland District Five school board members are giving themselves a pay increase, according to a report from The State. 

The board approved a salary of $9,600 for its members at Monday night's meeting, according to The State. That's more than double the current yearly salary of $3,750. 

Lexington-Richland Five is the only district in Lexington County that pays its board members, according to The State. The pay raise makes the district's board members among the highest-paid in the state. 

The salary increase was approved Monday night as part of the 2013-2014 budget.
