District 5 Candidate Forum Held Today

The first of three candidate forums for Lexington-Richland 5 school board will be held today at 6:30 p.m.

Six candidates are running for school board on Nov. 6, so the District 5 Teacher Forum and School Improvement Councils have organized three non-partisan public forums.

The first forum will be held at Irmo Middle School, 6051 Westcott Road, Columbia. 

In November, voters will elect two candidates in Lexington County and one candidate in Richland County.

Candidates are: 

• Jan Hammond (incumbent), Jondy Loveless, Beth Burn Watson (incumbent) and Ed Yates in Lexington County
• Melissa Cole and Robert Gantt (incumbent) in Richland County

Patch asked the candidates to answer questions about their education, work experience and previous political experience. Click on the links above in bold to view the profiles of candidates that responded to the survey.

Guests can submit questions in writing at the door, prior to each forum, but no questions will be taken from the audience during the event.
