District 5 Considers Adding Officers at Elementary Schools
The board will vote Monday night on the final reading of the budget, which would include funding for the new school resource officers.

Officials in Lexington-Richland School District Five are considering hiring school resource officers for each of its 12 elementary schools for the coming school year, according to a report.
The budget for the 2013-2014 school year includes an increase in taxes for businesses that could help pay for the officers, according to The State. School board members will vote Monday night on the final reading of the budget.
The increased concern about security came after December's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., which killed 20 kids and six employees.
