District 5 High School Registration Dates

Schools will hold days for parents and students to meet teachers, pick up schedules, order yearbooks, pay fees and fill out paperwork before school starts.

The first day of school for  students is Aug. 21. 

Before you get started, parents and students can pick up class schedules, pay school fees, meet their new teacher or fill out important paperwork.

Students attending District 5 schools are required to show three proofs of residency prior to the first day of school.

The following documents should be taken to your child's zoned school:

  • One of the following: Property tax bill for the permanent residence, rental lease (complete copy, listing all occupants) or real estate closing documents (where applicable)
  • Two of the following: Vehicle tax registration, voter registration card, electric bill, water/sewer bill, telephone bill, or cable/satellite bill

To register for kindergarten, your child must be age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2012.

Parents should bring the following to their zoned elementary school:

  •  Your child's legal birth certificate
  • A current South Carolina Certificate of Immunization, or a South Carolina Certificate of Medical or Religious Exemption
  • A property tax receipt or a rental lease showing all occupants
  • Two utility bills showing your correct home address

A driver’s license or acceptable photo ID with the correct address is also need for registration and proof of residency.

Alternative Academy for Success (6-12)
School hours:  M, T, Th, F—8:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; abbreviated schedule on Wednesdays, 9:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Aug. 21: First day of school, full day, lunch served
Sept. 3:  Labor Day holiday
Oct. 8:  Student holiday; parent conference day

 

Chapin High School (9-12)
School hours:  M, T, Th, F-7:55 a.m.-3:10 p.m.; abbreviated schedule on Wednesdays:  9:05 a.m.-3:10 p.m.
Aug. 1 & 2:  Make-up pictures for seniors, Contact LifeTouch to reschedule: 788-1620
Aug. 9:  Registration 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; gym
Aug. 9:  Underclass pictures taken at Registration; gym
Aug.11:  Freshman Orientation, 9-10:30 a.m.; gym
Aug. 20:  New Students to the Chapin Community Orientation, 9-10:30 a.m.; cafeteria
Aug. 21:  First day for students
Aug. 22: No delayed start for high school students
Sept. 3: Labor Day holiday
Sept. 20: Interim reports issued
Sept. 24:  Make-up pictures for underclass students

School hours:  M, T, Th, F-8:25 a.m.-3:35 p.m.; abbreviated schedule on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m.-3:35 p.m.
July 30 & 31: Senior Pictures (Make-up)
July 30-Aug. 3 and Aug. 6-10: Band Camp
Aug. 6 & 7: Parking passes pick-up, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Must have ALIVE@25 certificate and driver's license
Aug. 8: Schedule pick-up for all grades, no alphabetical order, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. (closed for lunch 2-3 p.m.)
Aug. 9:  Schedule pick-up for all grades, no alphabetical order, 7:30 am - 4:30 p.m. (closed for lunch 12-1 p.m.)
Aug. 17: Make-up Schedule Pick-Up, 1-4 p.m. 
Aug. 19: First day for students, full day, lunch served, classes begin 8:25 a.m.
Aug. 20: Freshman Orientation (Monday), 4-6 p.m.

Aug. 21: First day for students, full day, lunch served, classes begin at 8:25 am

Aug. 22: No delayed start for high school students

Aug. 11: Freshman Orientation 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Aug. 8: Registration for students whose last name begins with A-K, 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. (grades 10-12)
Aug. 9: Registration for students whose last name begins with L-Z, 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. (grades 10-12)
Aug. 13: Make-up registration for all students, 3-6 p.m.
Aug. 21:  First day for students
Aug. 22: No delayed start for high school students
Sept. 3: Labor Day holiday
Sept. 20: Interim reports issued
