District 5 Middle School Registration Dates

The first day of school for  students is Aug. 21. 

Before you get started, parents and students can pick up class schedules, pay school fees, meet their new teacher or fill out important paperwork.

Students attending District 5 schools are required to show three proofs of residency prior to the first day of school. 

The following documents should be taken to your child's zoned school:

• One of the following: Property tax bill for the permanent residence, rental lease (complete copy, listing all occupants) or real estate closing documents (where applicable)
• Two of the following: Vehicle tax registration, voter registration card, electric bill, water/sewer bill, telephone bill, or cable/satellite bill

To register for kindergarten, your child must be age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2012.

Parents should bring the following to their zoned elementary school:

•  Your child's legal birth certificate

• A current South Carolina Certificate of Immunization, or a South Carolina Certificate of Medical or Religious Exemption

• A property tax receipt or a rental lease showing all occupants

• Two utility bills showing your correct home address

A driver’s license or acceptable photo ID with the correct address is also need for registration and proof of residency.

Aug. 8: Schedule pick-up for last names starting with A-L, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., gym
Aug. 9: Schedule pick-up for last names starting with M-Z, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., gym
Aug. 17:  Cougar Camp (below)

For Students:

• Teams 64 and 65 will report to their team time room by 8 a.m.  At 9:30 a.m., students will be dismissed to the following areas: Team 64 in front of the school along the yellow curb, Team 65 in the car rider pick up area on the Irmo side of the school.
• Teams 66 and 67 will report to their team time room by 10 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., students will be dismissed to the following areas: Team 66 along the curb in the staff parking lot behind the main office, and Team 67 in the car rider pick up area on the Irmo side of the school.
• Teams 61, 62 and 63 will report to their team time room by 12:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., students will be dismissed to the following areas: Team 61 at car rider pick up area on the Irmo side of the school, Team 62 in front of the school along the yellow curb, and Team 63 along the curb in the staff parking lot behind the main office.

For Parents:

After helping students to their Cougar Camp Room assignment, parents should report to the gym for a parent orientation.  We will plan to begin this program 15 minutes after the start of each Cougar Camp session and the orientation will last about one hour. Parents will then be excused to pick up their children in the designated areas.  You may want to bring paper and pen for important notes.

Do not worry if: You can't attend Cougar Camp.  Attendance is voluntary and information covered there will be repeated.  It's purpose is to be an icebreaker and stress reducer.
