District 5 Names New Public Information Officer
Mark A. Bounds begins his duty as public information officer Wednesday.

Mark A. Bounds, a deputy superintendent for school effectiveness at the South Carolina Department of Education, has been named's new public information officer.
Bounds starts his new position on Wednesday after the district's director of community services, Buddy Price, retired from the district on June 29.
Price retired after 28 years of service.

In addition to his work at the state Department of Education, Bounds served in the U.S. Army where he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Bounds' military career included a four-year assignment at the Pentagon as the military assistant to the assistant secretary of the Army and as the deputy chief of staff at Fort Jackson.

While serving in those positions, his responsibilities included working with community leaders and the media.
