District 5 Superintendent's Writing Awards Winners Announced

One winner is selected per school and an overall winner for the district's writing contest.

Lake Murray Elementary student Caroline Magee is the fifth grade district winner of the 2012-2013 District Superintendent’s Writing Awards program.

The contest is open to fifth graders in Lexington-Richland District Five, with one winner selected per school and an overall winner for the district.

Nursery Road’s Jadon Stanek and Oak Pointe’s Riley Jones were awarded honorable mentions in the contest.

District Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hefner said, “Congratulations to these young, talented writers. Writing is an important part of our schools’ curriculum, and we are glad to encourage students to develop strong writing skills through contests like these.” 

The district also announced the names of eighth grade writing award recipients.

Chapin Middle’s Catherine O’Leary, Dutch Fork Middle’s Avery Stephens, and Irmo Middle’s Ian Bain will all be entered into the South Carolina Lieutenant Governor’s Office’s writing awards program, which is opened to eighth graders statewide. A winner will be announced in late April.
