Dutch Fork 'Focused' on State Basketball Final

The Lady Foxes will play Dorman High at 7 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Life Arena.

The Dutch Fork High Lady Foxes are focused on ending the season with another state title.

The defending state champions — the state's top ranked girls team — are up against Dorman High for the Class 4A state title after defeating Aiken, 40-24, in the Lower State Championship at the Florence Civic Center last Friday.

Dutch Fork (28-0) is looking to wrap up its season undefeated — leaving a legacy for those players that will continue on as Silver Foxes.

Coach Faye Norris along with McDonald's All-American Alaina Coates and Kyla Wigfall were at the S.C. High School League office in Columbia Monday to talk about the season and the state title. (See attached video)

Coates and Wigfall — who are both seniors — told Patch their focused on finishing their career at Dutch Fork strong.

"When it comes to a game like this and what we have at stake, we need to make sure we’re doing everything we can to make sure we produce a win," Coates said.

Wigfall said, "This game is all or nothing."

"We always wanted this so it feels really good. It’s exciting."

The girls' state final starts at 7 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Life Arena.
