Morton, who has served as principal of Dutch Fork High since 2007, said choosing to leave the school was a difficult decision.  He said, “The Dutch Fork High community is like family to me. I have enjoyed my tenure as principal and I’m proud of the accomplishments our school has made while I’ve been here.”

Morton went on to say that responsibilities to his own family were a huge factor in his consideration of the Brookland-Cayce position. Brookland-Cayce High is closer to his home, which will allow him more opportunities to spend time with his family.

“I am looking forward to serving Brookland-Cayce High. The school has a long history of excellence, and I am excited about leading this school as we prepare students for the future,” Morton said.

Superintendent Stephen Hefner said, “We wish Gregg the best. He is a phenomenal principal who has served as a great leader to Dutch Fork High. Under his leadership, the school received countless statewide accolades and was continually named one of the best in the nation by Newsweek magazine. He will be missed.”

Lexington-Richland Five has advertised the vacant position and plans to name the new principal of Dutch Fork High in the coming weeks.
