Dutch Fork High's Air Force JROTC Wins Battle fo the Bells

Volunteers from Dutch Fork High rang bells at six different kettle stations, raising a total of $1,481.50.

Dutch Fork High School’s Air Force JROTC has won the recent Salvation Army High School Battle of the Bells competition, the organization announced Friday.

The competition took place on Dec. 8, 2012 at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores throughout the Midlands.

“This is another example of the wonderful students we have here at Dutch Fork High School, said Dr. Gregrory Owens, the school’s principal. “Our students are always looking for ways to serve our community. We are very proud of the JROTC program.”

Volunteers from Dutch Fork High rang bells at six different kettle stations, raising a total of $1,481.50. Overall, the seven participating schools raised $6,178.52 to help local people in need through the work of The Salvation Army of the Midlands.

Regional Coordinator/Corps Officer, Major Roger Coulson at The Salvation Army of the Midlands expressed his gratitude, praising the students and volunteers for their support.

“Thanks and congratulations to the wonderful volunteers from Dutch Fork for their participation in another successful Red Kettle Christmas Campaign,” Coulson said. “We are grateful for the volunteer support that students and staff from Dutch Fork and all of the participating schools provide us during the busy holiday season.”
