Dutch Fork High Teacher Named Abraham Lincoln Fellow

Robert Barron, a social studies teacher at Dutch Fork, is the recipient of the Horace Mann-Abraham Lincoln Fellowship.

Robert Barron, a teacher at Dutch Fork High School, was awarded the Horace Mann–Abraham Lincoln Fellowship.

Barron is one of 50 educators in the U.S. selected to participate in the fellowship program, which features two five-day summer sessions in Lincoln’s hometown of Springfield, Ill.

The fellowship includes a behind-the-scenes look at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, lectures by library staff and Lincoln experts, and special guided tours. Round trip transportation, lodging and meals are provided by Horace Mann, a national insurance company.

David Stanley, the local Horace Mann representative, presented the honor.

“Mr. Barron is in for an experience he’ll remember for a lifetime,” said Stanley.

District 5 Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hefner said, “This is another example of the great teachers we have in District Five. We are very proud of Mr. Barron, and we really appreciate Horace-Mann for their acknowledgment and support for great teaching.”
