Update: Expect Delays for Road Work in Richland and Lexington Counties
Construction causes minor delays on several roads including Bush River Road, Chapin Road and Broad River Road

Editor's note: The detour scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the I-26 Westbound Bush River Road Exit Ramp for bridge repairs has been postponed due to bad weather. The project will be rescheduled and a new date posted when available.
Drivers can expect minor delays this week due to road construction or repairs.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced the following traffic delays:

- Expect a delay from Feb. 13–17, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for road closure on Chapin Road (US 76) from Murray Lindler Road (S 40-940) to Primrose Lane (S 40-1881). The road will be closed to thru traffic for the purpose of repairing a crushed Cross line pipe. A traffic detour will be implemented.
Ongoing projects
- Overpond Road (S 40-1922) is closed from Springpond Road (S 40-1724) to Pinelake Road (S 40– 2597) due to shoulder failure on pond dam. The road will be closed to thru traffic until further notice or the pond dam has been repaired. A traffic detour has been implemented.
- Expect minor delays and lane closures on North Main Street from Fuller Avenue to Albermarle Street in Richland County for sidewalk and roadway improvements. The expected completion date for the project is April 2012.
- Expect minor delays and flagging operations on Broad River Road from Greystone Boulevard to Lucious Road in Richland County for the replacement of the bridge over the Broad River. This project will require reducing traffic to one lane in each direction. The expected completion date for the project is May 2013.
- Expect minor delays for road widening construction on Platt Springs Road (SC 602) taking place between S-168 and Old Orangeburg Road. Expected completion date is May 2013.
- Expect possible delays and flagging operations for clearing, grading, bridge construction, and asphalt paving activities along the west side of US 601 from near SC 48 (Bluff Rd.) to +/- 1500’ south of the Congaree River bridge (Approx. 4.2 miles). Please note that the entire 4.2 mile construction zone will be marked as a no passing zone and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH. The anticipated completion date is June 30, 2013.
- The first step to reverse stop control at the intersection of Morlaine Road at Lavern Jumper Road in City of Cayce has been implemented. Currently, traffic must stop on Morlaine Road. Traffic on Lavern Jumper Road has the right-of-way. This change resulted from a traffic engineering study and should improve traffic flow.
