Former Employee Arrested for Alleged Fatz Cafe Break-in
A former employee was caught on surveillance video breaking into a Fatz Cafe on Broad River Road.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department arrested a 42-year-old man Monday for allegedly breaking into an Irmo area restaurant.
Albert Shane Owens is charged with burglary and attempted safe cracking.
Some time between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 11 and 8 a.m. Sept. 12, Owens broke into Fatz Cafe at 7420 Broad River Road by creating a hole in the rear wall of the business, according to a news release.

He then tried to break into the safe in the office, but was not successful.
Owens was captured on surveillance video.

It was later determined Owens was a former employee and was identified by employees, according to the department.
Deputies arrested Owens Monday morning at a home in Gaston. He was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
