Gilbert Man Dies While Helping Motorist Remove Deer From Road
Lexington County Coroner investigating accident that happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Highway 378 in Lexington.

A 17-year-old Gilbert man was killed after he was struck by a car while helping a motorist remove a deer from the road.
Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman identified the man as William Patrick Corley.
Investigators say Corley parked his vehicle on the side of Highway 378 in Lexington to help a driver who had hit a deer remove it from the roadway.

While assisting the individual, Corley was struck by a 2006 Toyota Camry heading eastbound.
Corley was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head and body trauma.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
