Haley Tells Ballentine Elementary Students 'Cool Kids Don't Bully'
The governor spoke about bullying at Ballentine Elementary Thursday afternoon.
Gov. Nikki Haley told an auditorium full of Ballentine Elementary students Thursday that "cool kids don't bully."
Haley made the stop at the school as part of an anti-bullying effort that she started her first month in office. Haley said the campaign started when students and parents started sending her letters about their concerns about bullying at schools.
"What we saw was that there were a lot of kids that were being bullied in school," Haley said, "and we knew if we just got out there and educated them how it's not cool to be a bully, and it's cool to be a leader, they would change."

Haley told the students she knows what it feels like to be bullied because she was bullied in school. She encouraged them put a stop to bullying by letting a teacher or principal know when it happens.
The governor also took questions from students about her role in office, how laws are passed and her family. She ended by quizzing students on South Carolina trivia.
