Update: Chapin High Wins 8th State Championship

Chapin, Dutch Fork and Irmo high schools all performed at the Bi-Lo Center

Update: The varsity cheerleaders at Chapin High School brought home another state title in Class 3A at the State Cheer Championship, making it the eighth win for the school and the fourth consecutive title.

Dutch Fork and Irmo high schools' cheerleading squads placed in the top 10 for Class 4A.

Original story: The cheerleading squads from Chapin, Dutch Fork and Irmo high schools will compete Saturday in Greenville for the State Cheer Championship.

The competition will be held at the Bi-Lo Center, 650 North Academy Street. Admission is $10 for anyone older than 5 years old. Children age 5 and under can enter for free.

The squads are scheduled to perform at the following times:

2:32 p.m., Chapin High (3A)

3:58 p.m., Dutch Fork High (4A)

4:19 p.m., Irmo High (4A)

Last year, Chapin High was named the winner in the 3A Division and Dutch Fork was runner up to Mauldin High School in the 4A Division.

Irmo High came in eighth place in 2010-11 state championship.
