Investigators searched the Koons' house with a warrant and found forensic evidence, according to the sheriff's office. Koon was arrested based on evidence and on statements he made during an interview.

The couple has a long, documented history of domestic problems that date back to 2007, investigators say. But there were no convictions for domestic violence against either of the two, according to records at the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say that Koon acted alone in the death and moving of the body of his wife.

The sheriff's office and SLED are continuing the investigation.
