Irmo 7th Grader is 2024 SCYWA State Wrestling Champion
Sevilla is also a 2024 South Carolina Silver Gloves State Champion Boxer
Myrtle Beach, SC - On Saturday, March 2nd, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Irmo Middle School 7th Grader - Luke Sevilla, competed at the South Carolina Youth Wrestling Association (SCYWA) State Championships in the 12u - 140 lb Open Division and went undefeated on the day, capturing the South Carolina SCYWA State Wrestling Championship, defeating wrestlers from Ninety-Six, Swansea, Gaston and Summerville.
Sevilla's younger sister - Grace Sevilla - a Nursery Road 5th Grader, went 2-2 on the day and placed 3rd at this year's State Wrestling Championships in the 105/115 10u Girls Division. Grace placed 2nd in the California USA Wrestling State Championships in 2022.
Luke, along with other IMS Wrestlers competed in SCYWA tournaments alongside their South Carolina High School League season tournaments, with IMS Wrestler and 7th Grader, Caleb Casillas, earning Runner Up status at the SCYWA Rookie State Championships and 4th Place at Saturday's Open Division State Championships in Myrtle Beach.

Sevilla was the 2024 Area Wrestling Champion and 2024 Section Wrestling Champion at 126 pounds for Irmo Middle School in the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) and had to withdraw from this year's SCHSL Carolina Invitational Middle School State Championships, due to a high fever and high blood sugar levels the morning of competition.
Sevilla was 26-0 at 126 lbs in the South Carolina High School League and earned NUWAY Wrestling All-American status in 2024 for the second time in his 3 year wrestling career. Sevilla was a California State Wrestling (SCWAY) Runner Up in 2022 and had to withdraw from competition in 2023 due to high blood sugar.

Casillas is currently on the IMS Track and Field Team, while Sevilla, also a 2024 South Carolina Silver Gloves State Champion Boxer, is a starter on the Irmo B Team Baseball Squad and an IMS C Team Football Player, and will be attending THE ZOO National Youth Football Recruiting Showcase in Southern California on Sunday, March 10th.
Sevilla and Casillas, coached by IMS Wrestling Coach - Tommy Sevilla - will compete at the South Carolina AAU State Wrestling Championships in Greer, South Carolina, on Saturday, March 16th.
