Irmo, Chapin Middle School Bands Earn Superior Ratings Earn at Concert Festival

Bands from Irmo and Chapin middle schools received Superior ratings at the South Carolina Band Director's Association Concert Festiva

The Irmo Middle School Honor Band, Irmo Middle 8th Grade Band, and Chapin Middle Band were all awarded Superior ratings at the South Carolina Band Director’s Association Concert Festival on March 27. The groups presented stage concerts for an audience and a panel of judges. They also read and performed new music during the event.

Irmo Middle School Principal Robert Jackson said, “Congratulations to our bands and their instructors on this outstanding accomplishment. The ratings are a testament to the leadership of Band Director Trey Simmons and others like Lorrie Turner and Tom Henke, who make our students great. Our band students have proven that they are truly superior.”

The Chapin Middle School band is directed by David Santiago, who has directed the group since 1991. The Chapin Middle band will perform again on April 19 at Carowinds. They will also have a spring concernt on May 2 at 7 p.m. in the Chapin Middle School gym.
