Irmo Council to Discuss Budget, Sweepstakes & Rental Property Ordinances
Irmo Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A public hearing on Irmo Town Council's proposed 2012-2013 budget and an amendment to the Irmo Town Code concerning the Rental property Registration ordinance will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The proposed budget totaled $4,466,492 at and included a $40 increase for trash collection. The town will continue with zero mills for property taxes.

- Ordinance 12-10 to adopt the operating and capital budget for FY12/13
- Ordinance 12-11 to amend the Irmo Business License Section to provide for a stamp fee for video sweepstakes / amusement machines
- Ordinance 12-12 to amend the Irmo Town Code, to add Chapter 11 - Rental Property Registration
Council is looking at charging a $500 stamp fee for video sweepstakes machines in the town.
Council members are also looking at a plan to address homes in the community that are dilapidated.

Several citizens have spoken against the , which requires landlords to "adequately maintain rental properties" and obtain a business license.
The ordinance also contains 12 standards for rental homes, which would be reflected on a rental housing inspection form.
The standards address several areas including doors and windows, fences and tree debris.
