Irmo Elementary Rededication Ceremony Held Sunday

A rededication ceremony for Irmo Elementary School will be held this Sunday, Lexington-Richland Five recently announced.

Through funds from the 2008 bond referendum, the district completed several projects at Irmo Elementary including constructing new classroom wings, special needs classrooms and a new music room, improving the student drop-off/pick-up area as well as renovating the school's gym and office area. 

According to the district, Irmo Elementary was constructed in 1935 to serve all first through 11th-grade students in the area. 

The original building — which is still part of the campus — housed an auditorium, a gym, classrooms and an athletic field. 

Tours of the school will follow the ceremony, which starts at 3 p.m.
