Irmo Fire District Celebrates 50th Anniversary Saturday
The Irmo Fire District is holding a public celebration event Saturday at the station.

The Irmo Fire District and Irmo Fire Foundation are celebrating 50 years of service to the community Saturday with an event open to the public.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Irmo Fire District at 6021 St. Andrews Road.
The fire district will also celebrate the dedication of a new fleet of trucks. Firefighters will give demonstrations on how to extinguish fires, perform auto extrications and give tours of the station.
There will also be free hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and music presented by a live DJ. Kids can pick up free junior firefighter hats, badges, coloring books, snow cones and balloons. The first 200 kids get commemorative cups and a fire safety DVD.
The Lexington County Fire Safety Trailer will also be on site, along with the Irmo Fire District trucks.
Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase commemorative items or make donations to the foundation to benefit the community and the Irmo Fire District.
Parking will be available on the Wedy's side of Bi-Lo.
