Irmo Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Wreck on Koon Road
A 65-year-old Irmo man was killed in a car crash when his Ford pickup ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, then a utility pole and his vehicle overturned.

An Irmo man was killed in a single-vehicle crash after hitting a ditch and a utility pole on Koon Road Wednesday night, the S.C. Highway Patrol reports.
The 65-year-old man was driving westbound on Koon Road near Coogler Road when his Ford pickup ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and then a utility pole, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said.
The vehicle then overturned and the driver was partially ejected, Kelly said.

The man was not wearing seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Richland County Coroner's Office has not released the identity of the man.

The wreck, which occurred around 10 p.m., remains under investigation by the higway patrol.
