Irmo Residents to Receive New Recycling Carts
Starting next Monday, residents will receive new 65-gallon recycling carts.
Residents of the town of Irmo will soon see new green recycling carts at their curbs.
Starting July 30 residents will receive a 65-gallon recycling cart.
“Irmo has a good recycling program in place, but we were finding that the majority of those who recycled completely filled their 18-gallon bin and put the additional recyclables out with their garbage,” Hardee Horne, Advanced Disposal’s municipal marketing and government affairs manager, said in a release. “The new, 65-gallon carts will allow residents to recycle nearly three times as much material.”

The Irmo Town Council decided earlier this year to use the larger recycling cart instead of the smaller bins.
The first week for recycling collection will begin Aug. 6 and will run every other week, the same day as garbage collections.
Advanced Disposal will collect the old collection bins when the new carts are distributed or on residents’ first recycle day.
