Irmo Town Council's regular meeting Tuesday night ended early due to a lack of quorum.

Only Mayor Pro Tem Barry A. Walker Sr. and council member Paul Younginer were present for the meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Mayor Hardy King and council member Harvey Hoots didn't attend the meeting.

Hoots was out of town on work-releated business and wasn't sure if he would make it back in time for the meeting, according to town administrator Bob Brown.

It was not known why King wasn't present.

Tuesday's agenda included the appointment of the 2012 Okra Strut administrator and approval to negotiate property for a new town park.

Three applications were received for the administrator position. Applicants are Susan Hoots, wife of Harvey Hoots; Sarah Watson, who ran for a seat on council last November; and Nancye Bailey of Carolina Event Consultants.

Since there wasn't a majority of the members present to vote, the meeting ended early but not before community recognitions.

Officer Trent Williams for being named Employee of the Quarter and the Arbor Day Committee presented awards to three of its donors: The Mungo Company, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Lexington Medical Center.

Council's next meeting is scheduled for March 20.
