Council discusses Christmas bonus, advertisements on recycling bins and videotaping meetings
Irmo Town Council held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. Here are some highlights:
Early Christmas bonus
Councilmembers discussed the early issuance of Christmas bonuses for employees. Town employees receive a bonus of $250, before taxes, in November. The council didn't vote to release the bonus checks early.

Videotaping meetings
The council agreed to videotape, archive and publish council meetings starting with the Nov. 15 regular meeting. The meetings will be recorded and posted on the town's web site.

Recycling bin advertising
The council discussed allowing commercial advertising on the town's recycling bins. The agenda specifically called for a contract with Sonoco Inudstries to allow the commercial ads. Council didn't approve the use of the town's recycling bins for commercial advertising.
Next Meeting
The council also voted to cancel its next scheduled meeting on Oct. 18. Mayor John Gibbons said at Tuesday's meeting that there was no business at that time that needed to be discussed at the second October meeting.
The council's next regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 15.
