Update: Oscar Pistorius Wins Silver, Jerome Singleton 5th in 200 Meters

UPDATE: Oscar Pistorius finished a suprising runner-up in tonight's 200-meter final at the Paralympic Games in London.

Alan Oliveira of Brazil won the gold, and after the race, Pistorius said the race was "unfair."

Jerome Singleton of Irmo finished fifth.

The same competitors will battle later this week in the 100-meter race.

ORIGINAL STORY: Millions of people learned the story of Oscar Pistorius, a double-amputee and the fastest man in South Africa, during the recent London Olympic Games.

But Jerome Singleton, a 26-year-old Irmo native and Dutch Fork High School grad, has known the story for years.

As a single-amputee, Singleton and Pistorius have been friends and rivals on the track for years. Learn more about Singleton's journey here.

This evening in London, and the Paralympic Games, the two square off in the 100-meter finals to see which one gets the first gold of the Games, which began Wednesday.

Pistorius set a world record in the event in qualifying Saturday. Here is the lineup for tonight's event, which will take place at 4:15 Eastern Daylight Time.
