Lexington County Accepting Donations for Holiday Care Packages

Toothpaste, deodorant, batteries and sunscreen among requested items

Correctional officers with the Lexington County Detention Center and the Lexington chapter of the S.C. Correctional Association, are collecting items for Holiday for Heroes care packages that will be sent to members of the Armed Forces serving oversees.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said citizens are encouraged to donate toothpaste, deodorant, writing paper, pencils, pens, envelopes, batteries, sunscreen, lip balm, foot powder and other items that can make life more comfortable for military personnel stationed overseas.

Donations can be made at the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington. The last day to donate is Friday, Nov. 18.
