Updated: Chapin Wins Fifth State Cheer Title

Updated: The Chapin varsity cheerleaders won the 3A State Competitive Cheer Championship for the fifth consecutive year

With a score of 282 — the highest score across all divisions — the Silver Foxes top the competition to bring home the school's ninth state varsity cheer title. 

In Class 4A, Dutch Fork came in sixth place with a score of 259 and Irmo placed eighth with a score of 253.

Original: Cheerleading squads from Irmo, Chapin and Dutch Fork high schools are heading to Greenville for the State Cheer Championship on Saturday. 

Chapin High, the Class 3A state champions, is looking to bring home its fifth consecutive title. 

A win this year for the Eagles would mean a ninth title overall. 

The squads are set to perform at the following times:

Class 3A

• Chapin, 3:30 p.m.

Class 4A

• Irmo, 6 p.m.
• Dutch Fork, 6:18 p.m.

The state competition will be held at the Bi-Lo Center, 650 North Academy Street in Greenville.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 for anyone older than 5 years old. Children age 5 and under are free.
