Man Accused of Robbing Harbison-Area Bank

A 22-year-old man is accused of robbing Regions Bank around 12 p.m. Monday.

Columbia Police arrested a 22-year-old man accused of robbing a bank in the Harbison area Monday afternoon. 

Brandon D. Washington is charged with armed robbery.

Witnesses told police Washington entered the at 149 Columbiana Drive around 12 p.m. wearing a mask, pointed a handgun at a clerk and demanded money.

Other witnesses saw Washington running through the parking lot of a nearby retail store and called police, according to the police department. 

Officers on the way to the robbery saw Washington and detained him because he fit the description for the bank robber, according to the police department. Police arrested Washington in the 300 block of Harbison Boulevard.

The stolen money was recovered near the scene, according to police.

No one was injured during the incident.
