Man Arrested After Breaking into SUV at Dreher Shoals Dam
Irmo runner caught 50-year-old man breaking into SUV.

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a 50-year-old man who allegedly broke into a motor vehicle parked in a parking lot at the Dreher Shoals Dam on Lake Murray.
David Lee Frick, of Lake Murray, was arrested Monday on several charges including breaking into a motor vehicle, possessing tools that can be used to commit a crime, driving a motor vehicle with an open container of beer or wine and driving a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Police say around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, a 21-year-old Irmo man, who had finished running on the Johnny W. Jeffcoat Walkway, saw Frick breaking into the passenger’s side window of his SUV.

The Irmo man reported the break-in and gave police a detailed description of the pickup truck Frick was driving, which helped police track down Frick at his home.
The arresting officer saw Frick driving the pickup truck and conducted a traffic stop at the end of the driveway at Frick’s home, according to a report.

The officer found an open 40-ounce can of beer and a large set of tin shears in the front compartment of the pickup truck, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Frick is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $11,415.
