Man Charged with Firing Gun in Mall Parking Lot

The 25-year-old man was arrested after police say he fired shots at Columbiana Centre. A 24-year-old was also arrested and charged with drunkenness.

Police arrested two men early Wednesday after responding to a report of shots being fired near Columbiana Centre. 

Stephen Randall Church, 25, is accused of target-shooting in the parking lot of the mall, according to Columbia Police.

When officers arrived around 4 a.m., they found bottles and several spent shell casings in the parking lot. They also recovered a semi-automatic pistol.

Church is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and discharging a firearm.

Cameron Brian Cleary, 24, who was also in the parking lot with Church, is charged with drunkenness.

No one was injured during the incident.

Church and Cleary were arrested and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
