Mauldin Fugitive Arrested on 47 Bad Check Warrants

A 34-year-old Mauldin man, who was wanted by the for the past two years, has been arrested. 

Kevin Lee Lewis was arrested on Tuesday at a home in Pickens and was charged with 47 counts of passing fraudulent checks.

Deputies say between September and December 2010, Lewis passed bad checks totaling about $38,000 to people and businesses in Lexington County.

Lewis had been on the run from law enforcement since 2010. Investigators say they tracked Lewis’ movements to the Upstate, Charlotte, Wyoming and Pickens.

While on the run, Lewis altered his physical appearance, deputies said. In 2010, Lewis was interviewed for a broadcast news story in Charlotte and was seen with a short spiked haircut and was clean-shaven.

At the time of his arrest, Lewis had a full beard and long hair, according to the sheriff’s department.

Lewis is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $38,500.

If Lewis posts bail, he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device on his ankle, according to the sheriff’s department.
