Narcotics Team Seize Meth Lab in Lexington County

A man in Lexington County was arrested for operating a meth lab near Batesburg-Leesville.

The Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested a 34-year-old man for operating a methamphetamine lab at a home near Leesville.

John Robert Bittle, 34, of 544 Pine Grove Road, Leesville, was arrested on Thursday and charged with second-offense manufacturing methamphetamine and third-offense possessing methamphetamine.

Officers, who were acting on a tip, went to Bittle’s home and found chemicals and equipment, including 11 reaction vessels, that had been used in manufacturing meth.

Bittle also was in possession of about one gram of meth, according to the sheriff’s department.

Officers say the meth lab was found in an old mobile home adjacent to Bittle’s home.

Bittle is being held Saturday at the Lexington County Detention Center on $75,000 bail.
