Nominations Accepted for Tri-District Summer Arts Program

Nominations for gifted and talented summer arts program now accepted until Jan. 13.

Nominations for middle school students attending public schools in Lexington 1, Lexington-Richland 5 and Richland 2 are being accepted for the 2012 Tri-District Arts Consortium Summer Program (TRI-DAC).

The TRI-DAC program, which is designed for artistically gifted and talented students who are rising sixth through ninth graders in the summer before the 2012-13 school year, is held from July 2 through July 21 on the Palmetto Center for the Arts campus at Richland Northeast High School. 

The cost for the three-week program is $375.

Auditions are held in creative writing, dance, music (strings, vocal and wind/percussion), theatre or visual art.

The auditions for dance, strings, vocal wind/percussion and visual arts students are held on Saturday, March 3 at Richland Northeast. Auditions in creative writing, visual arts and theatre will be held on Saturday, March 20, at the same location. There will be no make-up auditions.

Nominations must be received by Jan. 13. Applications will be sent to each nominated student. Spaces for qualified students from each district are limited.

A nomination form is available to the right of this article and can be found on District 5’s website. You can also find nomination forms in the principal’s office at district elementary or middle schools or by contacting the gifted and talented coordinator in one of the three districts.
